The Beach School Co-operative Inc. (TBS) is a not-for-profit, independent school for children aged 4-19 and is a part of an educational tradition of democratic decision-making and self-initiated learning. Our school is modeled in particular after the Sudbury Valley School, which has been running in Framingham, Massachusetts since 1968 and has inspired schools around the world.
THE NEW SCHOOL HOUSE
 We are a co-op, newly gathered to create a system of learning that is based on consensus decision making, student and faculty inspiration, the inner & outer environment, and a culture of individual freedom and self-responsibility.  We endeavor to create a setting where making great projects, experiences, and performances thrive.  Where we honour the personal and social development of the students, and their individual abilities to learn.  Where the quality of the facilitators lie as much in their knowledge of their subjects, as in their ability to communicate their passion for the subjects.

PARENT AND TOT
This informal drop-in gives children the chance to play together and explore in a child-friendly space while parents can chat with like-minded adults. The program is facilitated by a School staff member and our students drop by from time to time as well to interact with the little ones. We welcome everyone, whether you are looking primarily for a play-group or checking out the school with an eye towards your child's future education.

Who? Children aged 5 and under and their parent(s)
When? Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. - closed for the summer, but recommencing the 2nd week in September
